How do u get ur dogs toe nail stop bleeding from cutting it too short?

Our Vet recommends that we have shaving alum on hand. You can get it over the counter at a local drug store. If you just recently cut it in the quick then put flour on it. The flour will help clot it.How do u get ur dogs toe nail stop bleeding from cutting it too short?
Alum powder. Styptic pencil..How do u get ur dogs toe nail stop bleeding from cutting it too short?
Press a little flour onto the nail where its bleeding, it will stop. Next time, don't cut so close! If the nails are dark, you should cut tiny tiny pieces at a time so that you don't cut the quik.
I once cut my dog's toe nail too short and how I stopped the bleeding was I took a paper towel, held my dog on my lap (I have a small breed dog), wrapped the paper towel around my dog's paw, and gently put pressure on the bleeding nail. The bleeding took a while to stop, as it slowed before it actually stopped, but it did and my dog has since fully recovered from that incident (which happened a few months back).
Use a styptic pencil. Your dog won't like it but it stops the bleeding.
there isn't much you can do to stop it from bleeding after you have already cut it, but next time try not to cut it so far down then you wont have a problem.
Get a match and stick the head of the match to the nail tip that is bleeding. It will seal the wound and make it stop.

Or go to the store and get a septic pencil, that you dampen and place over the wound .Both work well.
Take flour or cornstarch, whichever you happen to have handy, and press a small amount to the wound. It will soak up the blood and stop the flow. This works for dogs, cats, and birds as well.
dip it in flour or corn starch
Try some flour.
