Are toe nail infections dangerous?

A couple days ago I accidently dropped a suitcase on my big toe and the toe nail got pulled all the way back and is only connected by the root. I've been applying neosporin inside the nail then covering it with a bandaid. It still hurts pretty band-aid. im planning on going to the doctors tommorow. if it does get infected, is it curable?Are toe nail infections dangerous?
If it gets infected it is cureable all they do is num the toe and clean the puss outAre toe nail infections dangerous?
Nail infections are not only unsightly, but also can cause long-lasting damage to the nail. A simple nail infection, if not treated properly, can swiftly lead to further complications. A podiatrist can solve the problem, but in the meantime keep it bandaged and clean. Spread a topical antibiotic dressing, such as Neosporin, on the wound to prevent infection.

yes, toe nail infections can be dangerous if you don't see a doctor for that. I know so many people who had an infection in one of there toes and left it alone,...because ';its only a toe!..';...the infection,left untreated, will spread into your bloodstream and then you'll have a major problem. That happened to my dad, and he had to go days with a port in his arm so he can give himself medications,..intravenously. And that was not a fun experience. Glad your going to the doctors.

the doctor will clean out the toenail bed and give u antibiotics 2 help ur body fight off infection. using neosporin is a good move. i learned that 2. :o)


a friend tried 2 remove her corns from her pinky toes with a razor blade and 1 got infected. she was more embarrassed then in pain, but her little toe was sooo swollen that she finally went 2 a doctor and was treated. she's ok now, so as long as u r healthy u will b fine.


u probably wont b able 2 wear shoes 4 awhile, that would kill me LOL and ur nail might b kinda weird looking. :o/
