Before toe-nail clippers, what did people do?

I could see, if you didn't have the technology, that maybe you could just chew off your fingernails. But toenails? You'd have to have a very dear friend indeed. Before toe-nail clippers, what did people do?
They used all kinds of material, like stone or normal scissors or knife or fingernails. And if you're a caveman, and walked barefoot, the nails weared simply off. Before toe-nail clippers, what did people do?
walked around with some long a** toe nails lol just kidding they had no shoes the ground more than likely wore them off
Chomp, chomp, chomp........
Maybe they had scissors?
bite their toenail (gross....ugh)
They peeled them off with their fingernails
eww they probably did what my husband does which is rip them off with his fingers. Or they might of bit them off. or they could of cut them off with rocks.
Scissors have been around a long time.
Im sure that they used their mouths and bit off the nails, what else could the do? or maybe they would just not cut them...keep emlong a pretty :) maybe not pretty but the bit them of...when i have no clippers... I bit my finger nails!
Used rocks.
I have noticed that after they grow a certain length, you can peel the top part fairly easy without hurting or taking your toe nails off. A rock such as sand stone would also work.
let them grow and naturally break
Hmm good question
You could take a knife and cut them off, or, like my wife, be very flexible to bite them off, which she still does
Pick at them and tear them across, same as fingernails for the non-manicured.
Who knows, prob chewed them off lol
Shoot, you just put your foot up to your mouth, and bite those suckers down.
the days before clippers were also the days before MickeyD's and stuff and in our previously svelte form, we were flexible enough to bite our toenails.. a bit of extra protein to boot hehe
