HELP!!My friend has an ingrown toe nail and she wants to get surgery should she?

when my friend was little she cliped her toe nails a lot and as she got older they grew weird and people can get it taken out but she dosnt know what she should do.Help her plz!!!!HELP!!My friend has an ingrown toe nail and she wants to get surgery should she?
Well, it's her choice,it's her foot, it's from her decisions. She can either get surgery, or learn to live with it.Maybe do some research or see a doctor...I think it depends on if the ingrown toe nail is causing pain...she'll make the right choice. Also never do anything in this kind of thing (involving surgery, sickness, and stuff like that) with out consulting a doctor first.HELP!!My friend has an ingrown toe nail and she wants to get surgery should she?
Surgery is the best option. They usually numb the toe and pull the toe nail off then bandage it up and let a new better one grow back on its own...
YES!! There are 2 kinds of surgery for this. A doctor can remove the nail that is causing the infection but it may grow back correctly or grow back ingrown again. The other thing they can do is kill the nail so it doesn't grow as wide anymore. I didn't want that, but I kept having them so I had it done. Now I don't have problems anymore. By the way the procedure itself looks painful, but it's painless because they use novicane. The novicane insertion is the worst part, burns, but not too bad.
ok if it is that bad maybe you should but i had one and it hurt alot but what you should do is take something like a metal pointy thing and lift the nail out of the skin every hour so that the nail can grow straight and dont cut your nail it will make it worse because it cant grow out and btw before you lift the nail with the pointy thing soak your foot in hot water it will soften the nail
yes she should get it taken out, i had that done to my ingrown toe nail and it doesn't bother me anymore
if its bothering her and/or if its painful, then yes i would reccomend removal...

but if its not really bothering her that much, then she can live with it...

unless she just has the money to get the surgery, then she can do whatever she wants...
No 'cause no one care about her toe so it shouldn't be a problem to her .
ask the doctor if there any other cure apart from surgery.

GOOD LUCK
Surgery is the only way.
i defiently say surgery is the best way and than her toe nails will feel much better!
tell her that if she can't clip the spurs off herself.. then yes surgery is best.. it sucks and it's gross and VERY PAINFUL... but it's worth it

She won't have any real toenails on the toes operated on until after a year.. so she need to have a decent level of self esteem because it will only make things worse if she has low self esteem if you have any questions about the procedure ask me I got my left bid toenail removed last March, and it on has two little pieces of nail growing on the top corners... they look like spider fangs, lol

Her toe will hurt especially the first time the bandaged is changed... and the nail bed will be BLACK, because of the silver nitrate they put on it, and the procedure will be done by her doctor, he will numb her toe and tell her to look away as he cuts UP the middle and to the sides. Because she's young...like me ... the doctor WON'T put acid on the nail matrix (that would stop any re-growth)
you need to soak it in camomille for like a hour then push back the skin and clipped the nail like a square
yeah probably.. thats what my brother did, hes fine now! haha.. yeah go for the surgery, for sure ^_^
I would recommend not getting the surgery. Use that as a LAST resort. Just see a doctor about it and take his/her advice.
always ask your doctor first, if the problem is serious surgery may be the only option, but until you know for sure what to do a good way to help it would be soaking your foot/feet in hot water mixed with hydrogen proxide which you can get at a grocery store. medications are avalible to help also... hope this helps a little bit!
ok............ewwwwwwwwwwww!
let her go through wih the surgery
she should
yes have surgery.

i did.

it doesnt hurt at all.

and after you'll never get another one on that toe.

[its the way they take it out]

:)

hope i helped.
Yepp, the only other way is to pull it out and that hurts like hell. My sister had that done. They gave her something to drink and it put her to sleep, then they did it while she was under anesthetics. It doesn't hurt at all she said, and she was 12.
It is possible to get sugery to correct severe cases of this. She should go to her doctor and ask him to take a look at it.
mosquito:surgery is not the only way! how would the indians back in ancient times do it?

ok well i get these ALL the time in fact i have 1 right this minute but on my finger. what i do is if it is infected, i go to the doc and get a medicine for it. well i used to but i am alergic to it and i learned that the hard way. but anyways what i have to do now is soke it in warm water with salt in it each night. this will speed up the process of it growing out and the salt is a natraul way. have u ever herd to go in salt water when u have a cut? it is the same reason. the salt helps the cut to heal faster. if this does not help w/in about 1-2 weeks (i know it takes an unberable time) the i would see a doc. but now dont u see what u can do natrually w/out all that surgery stuff? good luck and lots of love!

Sweetpea
this sounds bad %26amp; serious.

surgery is probably the safest %26amp; most effective option she has.
I've lost count of how many blummin ingrown nails I've ha. The first time, my mum shoved a pair of socks in mouth and literally ripped it out. Nice.

Just tell her to go to the doctors. They can give you tablets or medicine and it basically just makes it come out. Well that's what happened to me anyway. It grows back.

Sorry if it sounds a bit disgusting!

x
no just yank it out, itll hurt but surgery for that it stupid
yes. lower the risk of infection
If that's what her doctor recommends and the nail bothers her, then she should do it. Unless it's really bad, I can't imagine the 'surgery' is more that doctor's office outpatient.
yes indeed surgery is the best thing

i had the same problem and i didnt want to go to the doctors for some reason maybe i was afraid and after a while i had the courage to go and i had surgery and that was no best thing because if i left it to long it might of been even harder!!

tell ur friend to go as quick as she can!!

otherwise she might end up with the nail!

good luck to ur friend

xxxx
if she needs it that badly yes she should get the surgery
go to a foot doctor. its not a major surgery. i had it done when i was thirteen. it hurts pretty bad and the 5 needles being injected into your foot is not exactly pleasant and its difficult to walk and wear shoes for the next few days after but its worth it because it will heal and you will feel better. the doctor will probably also give you antibiotics to prevent infection. id say go for it.
well, i happen to get ingrown toe nail at least once a month. It hurts!! but just make sure you get the puss out. Then soak it in hot water. HOT HOT water, it will burn but then it will get numb. Then out peroxcide on it. There are also anitbiotics you need to take to help. Soak your foot atleast 3 times a day. After you soak it use tweesers to try and take some of it out. If her normal toe nail has grown weird then go to a doctor.

Hope this helps!
